Wrexham, Chelsea, Liverpool Advance in EFL Cup

Date:

Welsh club Wrexham AFC continue their fairy tale run in the 2025/26 EFL Cup.

Nicknamed the ‘Hollywood’ club, Wrexham defeated League One side Reading 2-0 at home to advance to the next round of the competition.

Meanwhile, at Anfield, Alexander Isak scored his first goal for Liverpool since joining them in the British record deal on deadline day.

Shane Charles restored parity for Southampton, but Hugo Ekitike saw red for silly offences (perhaps showing his frustration at being benched) after scoring the winner for the Reds.

League One dreamers Lincoln City nearly caused an upset on Tuesday night against the World Champions, Chelsea.

Chelsea was floored late in the first half by Street before two quick-fire goals from Tyrique George and Facundo Buonanotte turned things around for the Premier League side.

Nigerian international Tolu Arokodare scored his first goal for Wolves since joining in the summer to send them to the next round after Munatse had opened the scoring.
