Self-acclaimed King of dancehall music, Shatta Wale, has hailed legendary highlife musician Daddy Lumba for paving the way for him and the current musicians to make waves in the industry.
He also warned his fans to desist from comparing Daddy Lumba’s legacy with his and described the act as “disrespectful.”
His comments came against the backdrop of a debate where fans were comparing music supremacy between the two music giants to adjudge the musician who had the greatest hits of all time and was more relevant in the industry.
Shatta Wale, in an X post to respond to the ongoing debate, said Daddy Lumba had made a significant impact in the industry and even set the pace for him, thus saw the debate irrelevant and disrespectful.
“It is very disrespectful to compare me to the legend Daddy Lumba. Everyone should stop that because the man in Question paved the way for your favs and me myself,” he said.
Shatta Wale maintained that Daddy Lumba is incomparable and advised his fans to stop the comparison as he did not get close to Lumba’s achievement.
Daddy Lumba is considered one of the pioneers of highlife music who reigned and became very prominent in the Ghanaian music scene from the early 1990s to the 2000s.
He had many hit tracks and albums to his credit. His political song for the party in government even made him win more hearts and was considered a musician who composed a political song for even the opposition party to use it as a ringtone without being criticized for his endorsement.
