Semenyo motivated by his brother’s success

Date:

Watching on as his older brother rattles feathers at the summit of English football with constant spectacular performances, Jai Semenyo is eager to go on the same path.

Jai Elorm Semenyo, 21, younger brother of Black Stars of Ghana’s attacking player, Antoine Semenyo, is determined to reach for the stars down from the lower tier in the game.

His drop from the Championship to the National League may have caused those close to him to worry, but he is a “Semenyo,” a name synonymous with “beating the odds” in football.

Reflecting on Antoine’s rise to the Premier League, Jai expressed how motivated he is to emulate him. Antoine has been a revelation for Bournemouth in the 2024-25 season, starring in big fixtures such as on November 2, 2024, scoring in their big win against Manchester City.

NOVEMBER 2: Antoine Semenyo of Bournemouth celebrates scoring the opening goal during the Premier League match between AFC Bournemouth and Manchester City FC at Vitality Stadium on November 2, 2024 in Bournemouth, England.

Jai, a full-back, was named in the Black Satellites squad to participate in the 2022 Maurice Revello Tournament in France while at Cardiff City before transferring to Eastleigh in 2024 after a successful trial.

“For me personally, that’s motivation because right now I’m working to get to the to level, but I’ve got a prime example of someone who has been low and had to work to get to the top. For me, it’s motivation. If I put in the work, I’ll get to the top,” Jai shared.

Targeting to stay fit this season, the youngster is beginning to cement his place on the team sheet at Eastleigh, scoring in February against Aldershot in the National League.
