Nigerian singer, Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy from the former music duo “PSquare”, has warned the youth against chasing clout on social media.
According to him, clout chasing and posting stuffs just for trends can have dire repercussion.
Raising the alarm in a recent post, Rudeboy noted that the recent act of social media users was demeaning and had an harmful effect on their lives.
“Social media is going to destroy a lot of people… You might think it’s just cruise, clout, or to trend… Your eye go clear,” he wrote.
Following his comments fresh conversations have sparked about the growing influence of social media in Nigeria, with many urging the youth to use it responsibly.
Currently, the use of social media in Nigeria is largely unregulated, with no official body overseeing its content, thus has led to rising concerns over cyberbullying, fake news, hate speech, and defamation.
