Return to The Field— MoSR to Black Queens

Date:

The Ministry of Sports and Recreation (MoSR), through its Communication Director, Tanko Bagbara, has assured all bonuses owed to the Black Queens would be paid.

This comes on the back of widespread reports of the Black Queens’ threats to boycott the 2026 African Women’s Cup of Nations qualifier against Egypt in Accra over the USD 9,500 in bonuses owed to each player.

Mr Bagbara assured the Black Queens through Max FM’s Sports Pack show of the government coming through on their word, as continuous efforts are being made to pay them.

“We appeal to them [Black Queens] to reconsider their decision to get back to the field and win for Ghana. Government will definitely pay,” said Mr Bagbara.

The aggrieved Black Queens are scheduled to take on the Cleopatras of Egypt on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
