Presec-Legon Tops 2024 NSMQ Rankings

The 2024 EN Analytics Top 100 Senior High School Rankings for the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) have been released, showcasing the top-performing schools in Ghana’s most prestigious science and mathematics competition.

Once again, Presec-Legon retains its position as the number one ranked school, followed closely by Prempeh College and Adisadel College. However, the biggest story of the year is Mfantsipim School’s remarkable triumph, as they lifted the NSMQ trophy after a stellar campaign that saw them defeat Prempeh College, Presec-Legon, and St. Augustine’s College in an unforgettable journey to glory.

St. Augustine’s College also made history, breaking into the top 10 rankings for the first time since the ranking system began four years ago. Meanwhile, Central Region schools dominated the competition, with six schools reaching the quarter-finals, four making it to the semi-finals, and two finishing as the top two schools in the country.

Another notable achievement came from Apam SHS, which saw the biggest rise in rankings, jumping 19 places from 71st in 2023 to 52nd in 2024. Other significant movers included Mpraeso SHS (from 84th to 70th) and St. John’s School, Sekondi (from 65th to 52nd).

However, the rankings also highlighted regional disparities, as no schools from Ahafo, North East, Savannah, and Western North regions made it into the Top 100, largely due to infrastructure challenges.

The EN Analytics rankings, globally recognized as the benchmark for NSMQ performance, are based on a school’s final position in the national competition and its category, ensuring a fair and data-driven assessment.

With competition growing fiercer each year, all eyes will be on the 2025 NSMQ edition, as top schools seek to challenge Presec-Legon’s dominance and secure a spot in the rankings.
