Poverty is not caused by poor governance—Obeng Darko

Date:

Entrepreneur who doubles as an author, Obeng Darko says poverty is not all the time caused by poor governance or economic structures.

According to him, many are poor due to the limited knowledge they have about finances and means to secure their money.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Max Morning Show in Accra on Monday, Darko stated that to break the financial boundaries, there was the need for one to have adequate knowledge about finances.

“Sometimes it is not because of the poor governance system and structure that make us poor. Sometimes, it is about the individuals and the knowledge they have about finances and things they do with money,” he stated.

Obeng noted that some people mismanaged the money that comes into their pocket and later turned to blame demons for their own poor attitude towards their finances.

To obtain financial freedom, Obeng said one must invest wisely and do the right thing with money.

“A bird which can fly doesn’t know that the tree is cut off or pruned. If you do the right investment with your money, you could stand even when there’s a poor governance structure in place,” he stated.

Obeng advised that one should not lean on retirement money from SSNIT and should not only have one source of income.
