The Upper West Regional Police Command has announced the arrest of suspects in Jirapa Municipality.

Their capture follows an attack on police officers and seizure of their service weapons by the youth in the Saawie community.

The unfortunate incident occurred on Friday, December 5, 2025, when the officers had gone to the community to conduct inquiries.

A mob of 30 people pounced on the officers, disarming them of their service weapons and attacking till reinforcements came to their aid.

The reinforcement, led by the Regional Police Commander DCOP/Mr Francis Yiribaare, arrested nine suspects, as the injured officers were taken to the Wa Regional Hospital for treatment.
