PEOPLE & PLACES: 259 Steps to Ote Waterfalls – A Waterfall and Canopy Walk

Date:

One of Amedzofe’s natural wonders is the Ote Waterfalls, a stunning cascade that captivates tourists with its beauty and tranquility.

Ote Falls is set in the thick Amedzofe forest, which adds to its natural beauty. The waterfall is 45 minutes’ stroll from Mt. Gemi.

Mind you, this journey to get to the fall is not for the faint-hearted. The hike to get there is challenging inside a tropical forest where you can have the opportunity to view numerous species of birds, butterflies, and exotic flowers. Although motorcycles are available at the market, it is advisable to walk due to the rough trail.

It takes 259 steps to get to the entrance of this adventurous canopy walkway, followed by the waterfalls. In my case, descending the stairs wasn’t very tiresome compared to ascending. You can imagine ascending 259 steps; it’s not for the faint of heart.

On arrival at Ote Waterfalls, we were greeted by a breathtaking view. The waterfall is 80 meters high and rushes down in multiple tiers, creating an exciting spectacle of falling water and mist. The sound of water crashing against the rocks, as well as the cool mist that envelops the area, add to the sensory experience, creating an intimate connection with nature.

The waterfall offers a serene and refreshing environment for tourists to relax and rejuvenate. The rocky landscape surrounding it provides excellent sitting and photo opportunities, making it an ideal destination for families and groups.

Ote Falls in Amedzofe is a peaceful haven for nature lovers, adventurers, and those looking for peace. Its tranquil beauty, calming noises, and cool waters make it a must-see for reconnecting with nature and appreciating Ghana’s natural resources.

The trip to Ote Falls was cut short because of the rain. I guess we didn’t check the weather forecast before visiting the place. So, when you visit the place one day, make sure it’s not a rainy day.
