#Paris2024: Sweden’s Duplantis beat his own world record

Date:

Sweden’s Armand Duplantis broke his own world record at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games on Monday, August 5, at the Parc de Prince to win consecutive Olympic gold in the pole vault event.

The Swede rose over 6.25 meters, 1 centimeter higher than his previous record of drawing a stunning reaction from the spectators in the packed stadium.

He beat Team USA’s Sam Kendricks (5.95 meters) and Greece’s Emmanouil Karalis (5.90 meters) in the final of the pole vault.

The American-born Swede becomes the second man to win back-to-back gold in the pole vault event since another American, Bob Richards, in 1952 and 1956.
