Professor Francis Doudu, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, Kobla Mensah Wisdom Woyome, and Dr. Randy Abbey are believed to be considered for the Sports and Recreation Minister post.
The President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani, a week after being sworn in as leader of the state, has begun his ministerial appointments.
The first set of ministers has already been through a vetting process at the hands of the Appointment Committee of the Parliament of Ghana.
One area that has interest Ghanaians, mostly sports enthusiasts is the Sports and Recreation Ministry, after a disappointing performance by the previous Minister.
Charles Osei Assibey, Vice President of the Ghana Athletics Association and President of the Ghana Armwrestling Association, reckons that it will be in the best interest of the country to have Sports Minister who truly understands sports.
“Depending on the president I know, I have seen he wants to really improve the sector. So we need one who understands sports,” he said to Nana Darkwa Gyasi on Max FM’s Sports Pack show.
Perhaps, speaking from experience with the previous Minister, Osei Assibey insisted the incoming Minister, whoever her or she may be, must be affable and easy to work with.
“We need one who can work without being confrontational. I have seen the names that have come up. Except for one, I am happy with names mentioned so far,” he added.
