Veteran actress, Akofa Edjeani Asiedu has shut down claims that she was dissatisfied for not gaining an appointment at the National Film Authority (NFA).
According to her, she voluntarily withdrew from being considered for the Executive Secretary position.
Speaking in a recent interview with the media, Edjeani indicated that although she applied for the position, she later informed the government that she was no longer interested.
“I submitted my CV to the President, but as I said, you can’t tell the President what to do. Also, the fact that I didn’t get the position is no big deal at all. I sent a message to the President long before the appointments were made, stating that I was no longer interested,” she explained.
Edjeani also called for support for the newly appointed actors, Kafui Danku-Pitcher and James Gardiner for them to deliver their mandate.
“All we need to do is support Kafui and James to succeed. You know how much I have contributed to this industry, so I believe that’s why my name was mentioned for the position. However, I have no problem with Kafui and James being appointed. I am not upset about their appointments,” she stated.
Her comments came amid speculation that she was disappointed by the appointment of her fellow actors Danku-Pitcher and Gardiner to the Ghana Film Authority.
Edjeani dismissed the claim and insisted that her decision to withdraw from it was personal and not influenced by rivalry or dissatisfaction.
