The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, has expressed immense gratitude to all health professionals who are working hard to contain the spread of the coronavirus, as well as treating people who are infected in the country.
President Akufo-Addo made the statement during his fifth address to the nation on Sunday, April 5, 2020, to announce more measure taken against the spread of the virus and other stimulus package for Ghanaians
According to President Akufo-Addo, the health professionals are heroes and heroines of the generation as they have sacrificed their lives to save others.
“Let me thank in particular all our frontline actors who continue to put their lives on the line to help ensure that we treat the virus. To our health workers, I say a big ‘ayekoo’ to the continuous sacrifices you are making in caring for those infected with the virus, and in caring for the sick in general. You are the heroes and heroines of our generation,” he said.
President Akufo-Addo pledged ultimate support from the government to make their work more effective and to ensure their safety.
“Government will do all in his power to provide you with the relevant tools to do your work effectively,” he stated.
President Akufo-Addo also commended the general public for obeying his directives by ensuring that they stayed home during the lockdown period to contain the spread of the disease.
“The ultimate goal is to protect permanently our continued existence on this land … They heeded the call and have proven so far to each other and indeed to the entire world that being a Ghanaian means we look out for each other,” he concluded.
