The semi-finals of the 2023–24 MTN FA Cup kick off this weekend at the Sogakope WAFA Park as the Ghana Premier League goes on break for the honoring of the second-biggest competition in Ghana.

LEGON CITIES vs. NSOATREMAN FC

Legon Cities will take on Nsoatreman Football Club in the first semi-final on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 3 p.m.

Coach Paa Kwesi Fabian’s Cities head into this season-defining battle on the back of an inconsistent run, placing 12th and winning and losing twice apiece and drawing once in their last five games in the Ghana Premier League.

Nsotreman, who are better placed in the league standings (6th), go into this clash following a shock loss to relegation-threatened Heart of Lions in Kpando.

Maxwell Konadu’s side, with a better defensive record, needed extra time to put Karela United to the sword in the quarterfinals of the competition through Osei Bonsu, while Legon Cities recorded a 1-0 victory over Bechem United thanks to Stephen Asare’s 57th-minute strike to set up this exciting match-up.

DREAMS FC vs. BOFOAKWA TANO

The current champions, Dreams FC, may not have been doing well in the league, but that can be forgiven after their stellar run in the CAF Confederation Cup, reaching the semi-finals in their maiden participation.

The Still Believe boys are showing their eagerness to have another crack at Africa’s second biggest club competition by beating Access Bank Division One side, Soccer Intellectuals, 1-0 last week at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu to book a semi-final berth against fellow GPL strugglers, Bofoakwa Tano.

There has been drama from the camp of Bofoakwa Tano in the days leading to this huge encounter regarding funding and choice of venue, as Alex Ababio, the CEO of the club, cited unfairness from officials whenever his side played at the WAFA Park.

This is one semi-final that promises so much action and cannot be missed for any reason whatsoever.
