MMD: CHERISH YOUR LADY WHEN SHE’S ON HER PERIOD – DR. SARAH LAWSON

Date:

During an interview on Max 89.7 FM’s Max Morning Dew, Dr. Sarah Lawson, CEO of Alsa Health Clinic, shared her perspective on the topic of “Who is a responsible man?” Specifically, she advised men to show reverence and support to their partners, especially when they are menstruating.

Dr. Lawson highlighted the issue of some men expressing disgust or avoiding their partners during their menstrual periods, even going as far as refusing to eat food prepared by them due to the belief that menstruation makes women “unclean.” She emphasized that many men lack knowledge and understanding about menstruation, leading to these primitive beliefs.

From a medical standpoint, Dr. Lawson explained that menstruation is a natural phenomenon and men should not shy away from their partners during that time. Instead, she encouraged men to offer physical and emotional support since the menstrual process can take a toll on women’s emotions. According to her, this kind of support constitutes being a responsible man.

Furthermore, Dr. Lawson, who is also a counselor, suggested that men should recognize that women are more spiritually in tune during their menstrual periods. She advised men to ask their partners to pray for them during this time, as it is believed that prayers offered by women during menstruation can yield faster results.

Dr. Lawson mentioned that some traditional healers, such as fetish priests and native doctors, do not allow women to visit them during their periods because women are believed to become exceptionally powerful at that time, overpowering certain spirits.

Menstruation is a natural bodily process, and societal attitudes towards it can vary widely. Cultural and religious beliefs may influence how individuals perceive and interact with menstruation. It’s always crucial to respect diverse perspectives and have open discussions to foster understanding and support for all individuals.
