Black Stars winger Joseph Paintsil is set to lead the Los Angeles Galaxy to face the New York Red Bulls in the Major League Soccer (MLS) final.
In the format of Major League Soccer, the winner of the Eastern Conference faces the winner of the Western Conference in the MLS final to determine the champion of the United States of America’s top soccer division.
At the Dignity Health Sports Park in California, Dejan Joveljic scored the only goal of the game when he slotted home in the 86th minute before Paintsil came so close to adding the second but missed by a whisker.
The number seven seed in the Eastern Conference, New York Red Bulls edged Orlando City 1-0 courtesy of an Andres Reyes 47th-minute strike to advance to their second-ever MLS Cup final.
Former Barcelona youngster and now LA Galaxy star man, Riqui Puig, will miss the final after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee.
