The minority caucus of the Parliament of Ghana has strongly criticised the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) over the handling of the 2024 Pusiga candidate for the NPP, Alhaji Abdul Hannan Wahab.
Alhaji Wahab was arrested on June 25, 2025, by EOCO along with his wife, and they are under investigation for money laundering, tax evasion, and causing financial loss to the state during his time as boss of the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO).
The Deputy Minority Leader, Hon. Patricia Appiagyei, made the stance of the minority clear in a press statement, condemning the bail conditions by EOCO for the ex NAFCO boss Alhaji Wahab.
“This treatment is excessive, humiliating, and clearly politically motivated,” the statement read by Hon. Appiagyei.
“It sends a chilling signal to those who served in the previous government: you will be targeted, not tried,” she added.
EOCO sets GHS 50 million for Wahab with two justified sureties and GHS 30 million for his wife with similar conditions.
