Mamprobi Hospital Baby Theft: Mother Recounts What Happened

Date:

Precious Ankomah, the mother of the baby stolen at Mamprobi Hospital, has narrated how the incident occured.

On Tuesday, February 17, 2026, the pepertrator, Latifa Salifu appeared in the guise of a nurse in the ward of Ms Ankomah.

Ms Salifu first entered the ward after a cleaner had swept there, appearantly to scale the room, saying nothing to the mother before leaving.

She returned at around 6:30 am according to Ms Ankomah pretending to look through her medicine box and took the four-day old baby, claiming to go have the child medicated.

After some few minutes, Ms Ankomah realised the fake nurse was not returning with her child so together with the in-charge nurse, they searched throughout the hospital for the baby.

A swift intervention of the Dansoman Police Command after news of the bold theft went viral on social media saw the apprehension of Ms Salifu, 33, a mother of two, at her hideout in Shukura, Accra.
