Love for Black Stars never faded—Maurice Quansah

Date:

Mr Maurice Quansah, a seasoned journalist and sports editor at Graphic Communications, shared his expert views on the contributing factors to the Black Stars’ recent success.

The Black Stars of Ghana, under the steady guidance of the German-trained coach Otto Addo, kicked off the 2025 calendar year with two dominant victories over Chad and Madagascar in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

According to Mr Quansah, the love for the Black Stars from Ghanaians never faded away; instead, was expressed in a rebuking manner when the team was in what appeared to be an unending rut.

“The love never went away. It’s just that sometimes, as we say in Twi, whoever loves is the one who rebukes. We love the Black Stars. They are our heartbeat. When they are not doing so much, it is said, to whom much is given, much is expected.

We roll out so much, give them comfort, give them whatever they need, and don’t get the result in return,” Mr Quansah said on Max FM’s Sports Pack Show.

The period of introspection following the Black Stars’ forgettable attempt to reach the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (Morocco 2025) compelled the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to ring significant changes in the technical team and management committee while maintaining Otto Addo against the wishes of disappointed fans.
