Nations Football Club Brands Manager, Kennedy Boakye Ansah, has strongly advocated for the inclusion of forward Faisal Charwetey in Ghana’s squad for the upcoming Unity Cup in London.
Ghana’s Black Stars are set to face Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and Nigeria in the four-nation Unity Cup from May 27 to May 31, 2025. With key players like Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, and Antoine Semenyo reportedly unavailable, calls for fresh talent are mounting.
In an interview on Max Sports Pack, Boakye Ansah championed Charwetey’s form, noting the former Akatsi All Stars striker has netted 11 goals in the ongoing Ghana Premier League season.
“He’s proven himself locally. It would be extremely suicidal for the Black Stars to overlook him,” he stressed.
While clarifying that he doesn’t intend to pressure head coach Otto Addo, Boakye Ansah maintained that Charwetey deserves a place in the squad on merit.
“I might not be in Otto Addo’s mind, but based on performance and fairness, Faisal Charwetey deserves a spot in the team.”
The Unity Cup offers a platform for new talents, and all eyes will be on Otto Addo’s squad announcement as the tournament draws closer.
