The former president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, has disclosed his aim to become a sports minister if the New Patriotic Party wins the 2024 December polls.
Kwesi Nyantakyi has made an ambitious attempt to enter politics following his announcement to contest for the NPP parliamentary seat in the Ejisu Constituency in the upcoming polls.
The seat became vacant following the untimely death of the deputy minister for finance, John Kumah, who was the MP for Ejisu.
The former FIFA council member stated, “If the NPP comes and they make me a sports minister, I may consider it, but if the NDC comes and they consider me, it will be difficult.”
The articulate former GFA president made known during an interview on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, of his plans to help develop football in Ghana.
“I will ensure that the GFA takes back its past glory. I am a former president [of the GFA], so I see myself as an insider,” he said.
“Wherever I find myself, I have to use my wisdom to help improve not only football but sports as a whole. I am also a lawyer, so I will use all that to help develop football,” he added.
