JUST IN: SWAG Opens New Secretariat at Accra Stadium

Date:

On Friday, the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) inaugurated its new ultra-modern secretariat at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The event was attended by Chief Patron HE Amarkai Amartefio, former Presidents Joe Aggrey and Ebo Quansah, and various sports federation heads.

Mr. William Kartey, Chief Director at the Ministry of Youth & Sports, praised SWAG’s leadership for their vision and commitment to providing a central location for their activities. He also commended the National Sports Authority (NSA) for allocating the facility and encouraged media to focus on positive achievements in sports.

Alhaji Majeed Bawa, Deputy Director General of the NSA, emphasized the importance of collaboration among sports writers and federations and urged journalists to verify stories before publication.

SWAG President Mr. Kwabena Yeboah dedicated the event to the association’s first president, the late Joe Lartey, and highlighted the progress SWAG has made since its founding in 1968. He expressed hope that the new office will enhance the association’s role in promoting sports.

Special SWAG gold medals were awarded to Chief Patron HE Amarkai Amartefio, past Presidents Joe Aggrey and Ebo Quansah, and GHALCA Chairman Kudjoe Fianoo for their dedicated service.

The ceremony also featured entertainment from the Ghana Sports Supporters, led by Abraham Nkansah. Ebo Quansah urged sports journalists to uphold their responsibility in reporting.
