JUST IN: Ghana to Launch 2025 Youth Weightlifting Championship

Date:

The Ghana Weightlifting Federation (GWF) is set to officially launch the 2025 African Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championship with a special media event scheduled for Tuesday, 8th July 2025, at the GOC Boardroom, beginning at 11:00 AM.

The championship, which promises to be one of the continent’s premier youth weightlifting competitions, will bring together the best young lifters from across Africa to compete and showcase their strength, technique, and determination on the international stage.

This year’s media launch signifies Ghana’s growing leadership in weightlifting and sports development on the African continent. Under the leadership of the GWF and its partners, the event is expected to be a platform for discovering future Olympic stars and inspiring the next generation of athletes.

The launch will feature key stakeholders, including sports authorities, federation officials, athletes, and members of the media, who will be briefed on the event’s objectives, schedule, and opportunities for Ghana’s sporting community.

Speaking ahead of the launch, GWF officials expressed confidence in Ghana’s readiness to host the event successfully, citing the country’s past record in organizing high-level sporting competitions and its strong pipeline of young talent.

With the 2025 championship expected to attract attention from across the continent, Ghana aims to use the tournament to boost local interest in weightlifting, promote youth sports, and raise the profile of the nation as a host of international events.
