President John Dramani Mahama has assured the Black Stars of his full support ahead of their crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier against Chad, despite admitting that watching football is a nerve-wracking experience for him.
Speaking during an engagement with the team, President Mahama revealed the lighthearted advice he received ahead of the match.
“I will take time off and watch the game myself, even though my heart is not very good at watching soccer. They say I should eat before I go and watch. My hope is that you will justify my sitting and watching you guys,” he said.
The President further encouraged the team, emphasizing that the entire nation is behind them as they step onto the pitch.
“The whole of Ghana is going to be behind you, and I’m sure that you can make it,” he added, boosting morale ahead of Friday’s showdown at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Black Stars are determined to secure victory against Chad on March 21 before heading to Morocco for their next fixture against Madagascar.
