Hon. Samuel Awuku has resigned from his position as Director General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA).
On Monday, January 13, 2025, Hon. Awuku submitted his resignation to the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.
In the letter, Hon. Awuku cited the need to focus on the constituents of Akwapim North, where he was recently voted to be their representative in the ninth Parliament of Ghana.
Formerly of the communication team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hon. Awuku assumed the role as Director General of the NLA after he was appointed by the immediate past president, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in August 2021.
He was present at the vetting of the first batch of ministers on Monday as a friend to the Appointment Committee, where finance minister designate, Hon. Ato Forson, made it clear to him that he would scrap the betting tax.
