Hon. Eric Opoku, Minister of Food and Agriculture Designate, has outlined plans to make agriculture attractive to the youth of Ghana.
Known to be an agriculturist for most of his life, Hon. Opoku, who is also the Member of Parliament for Asunafo South Constituency in the Ahafo region, highlighted the need to get the youth involved in farming.
Speaking before the Appointment Committee of Parliament, he proposed an initiative by the government to boost the agriculture sector.
“We want to make agriculture attractive to the youth and to everyone in this country. ”
“We intend to acquire the land, prepare it for agricultural purposes, and then hand it over to prospective investors so that we can increase production and drive our nation towards food sufficiency,” he explained.
