Former Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has assured Ghanaians that the National Democratic Congress will raise the standards of sports in Ghana.
The current state of sports and sporting infrastructure in the country in recent years has not been anything to be proud of, especially with a number of allegations about corruption in the sector.
A number of sporting disciplines in Ghana, aside from football, boxing, and track and field, have not received the desired attention they require, a problem, Hon. Nii Lante Vanderpuye promises the incoming sports minister under the leadership of president-elect H.E. John Dramani Mahama would address.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Max TV, Hon. Nii Lante, who is also the former Member of Parliament for the Odododioodioo constituency, assured that the yet-to-be-appointed Minister of Youth and Sports will have support to deliver the NDC’s promise on developing sports in Ghana.
“Whoever the president assigns to the Ministry of Youth and Sports will have a bevy of experienced hands, knowledgeable hands, to support him or her to deliver on the mandate that people have given us for the development of sports,” Hon. Nii Lante said at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Though names such as Professor Francis Dodoo and Ben Nunoo Mensah have been mentioned in the running for the top job at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the NDC, on Monday, December 16, 2024, through the Special Aide to the president-elect, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, described such reports as “false and unauthorised.”
