The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has vehemently condemned the sacking of Dr Adam Atiku as the Chief Executive Officer of the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
On April 22, 2025, the Minister of Health, Hon. Kwamena Mintah Akandoh, was accompanied by the Member of Parliament for Tamale North, Hon. Sayibi Suhuyini, to pay a surprise visit to the Teaching Hospital of Tamale.
Videos of a confrontation between Dr Atiku and the Minister went viral on social media, generating a lot of conversations as the administration of the staff was heavily criticised.
The GMA sprang to the defence of the sacked Dr. Atiku, claiming Hon. Kwamena Mintah Akandoh’s actions were an abuse of power.
The GMA has demanded an “unqualified apology” from Hon. Akandoh and Hon. Suhuyini for the “unwarranted attack” on Tuesday.
