Ghanaian 400m record-holder Rafiatu Nuhu has taken a major leap in her athletic career by transferring to Louisiana State University (LSU) ahead of the 2025–26 track and field season.
Nuhu, who previously competed for Cloud County Community College in Kansas, made headlines in May 2025 after clocking 51.46 seconds in the NJCAA preliminaries—a new Ghana national record in the women’s 400m.
She now joins LSU’s powerhouse track and field program, renowned for producing elite sprinters and hurdlers. The Tigers’ roster includes Nigerian sprinter Tima Godbless, who recently earned three first-team All-American honors—the first freshman to do so since Sha’Carri Richardson.
With LSU’s rich sprinting legacy, Nuhu is expected to further hone her talent and play a key role in the team’s continued dominance on the collegiate circuit.
