Mary Boakye of Ghana won the gold medal in the women’s 200-meter event at the 2024 Africa Military Games, months after she dazzled millions with her performances at the 2024 CAA Games in Accra.
Colonel Oladipo of the Nigerian Army presented the silver medal to second-place finisher Kate Agyemang in Abuja, Nigeria.
Shaibu Marizuk of Ghana also won the gold medal in the men’s 200-meter competition, defeating two Kenyans, Mike Mokamba in third place and Corporal Samuel Chege in second.
The second Africa Military Games, which began in Abuja from November 18 will end on November 30, 2024, brought together 1625 athletes from 25 African nations.
By Wednesday, November 27, 422 medals had been given out, with 171 gold, 129 silver, and 122 bronze. Nigeria and Algeria compete against each other at the summit of the medal table, with Ghana in fifth position, holding 26 medals overall, including five gold.
