According to Ernest Thompson, a former Accra Hearts of Oak Board Secretary, the club must review their recruitment policy.
Ernest Thompson said the recruitment policy of the Hearts of Oak club has to be changed as the club currently lacks quality players to compete.
Speaking on an Accra based FM station on the club’s policies, Mr. Thompson advised the management of the Hearts of Oak club to buy three or four quality players to add to the average players before the club can win laurels.
“Management of Hearts Of Oak must take a look at the quality of recruitment. The recruitment policies needs to be changed,” he said.
“So when Hearts is doing recruitment they should make sure that they have few players who are above average, you may not have best of eleven players at a time, So Hearts should focus on recruiting good players who are not on the same standard, before they can see start winning laurels.
The legal luminary also pointed out how the presence of Don Bortey, Osei Kuffour, Ismael Addo and Charles Taylor made the difference at the club.
“Hearts Of Oak can not have the same type of players of the same standard, you need what we call two or three key players.
“In the year 2000, Hearts had Sammy Adjei, Osei Kuffour, Ishmael Addo,Don Bortey and Charles Taylor who could make a difference in any given game”
Since 2009 , the Hearts of Oak haven’t won the Ghana Premier League.
