Miguel Uribe Turbay, a Colombian presidential hopeful, has been shot twice in the head and once on his body in Bogota.
The horrific attack, which took place at a campaign event, has resulted in Turbay fighting for his life in intensive care.
While a 15-year-old suspect has been apprehended by the police, the victim’s wife, Maria Claudia Tarazona, has passionately called on the nation to pray for her husband’s survival.
Centro Democratico Party has since condemned the attack on Uribe, who was shot in mid-speech, as others fled in panic.
It appears tragedy is synonymous with the Turbay family. The presidential candidate’s late mother, Diana Turbay, was a journalist killed by the Medellin drug cartel run by the infamous Pablo Escobar in 1991.
