Chelsea will not sack Enzo Maresca this summer, even if they miss out on Champions League football, according to a report.
The Italian’s future has become the subject of intense speculation in recent weeks as Chelsea’s form since the halfway point of the season has taken a nosedive.
Although the Blues are in the final of the Conference League, there has been some sack talk surrounding Maresca as Chelsea have gone from challenging for the top spot in the Premier League in the early stages of the season to potentially missing out on Champions League football.
After three wins from their previous four games, qualification for Europe’s premier competition is still in the hands of the West London club, but a temporary slip to seventh in the table and subsequent failure to get back into the top four has ramped up the pressure on Maresca.
Earlier this week, it was claimed that Maresca could be sacked due to concerns over Chelsea’s ‘identity’ under him, while it was also asserted that Serie A side Roma were interested in him should he indeed lose his job.
