Bibiani Gold Stars captain Vincent Atinga is optimistic about his club’s chances at the upcoming CAF Champions League.
The Ghana Premier League champions are preparing for the qualification rounds of the 2025/26 CAF Champions League.
After having been drawn against Algeria’s JS Kabylie, doubts have sprung up about the chances of making it to the money zone.
Speaking at the end of Gold Stars’ defeat to Asante Kotoko in the 2025 Champion of Champions tie, Atinga expressed optimism ahead of the qualifier.
“We are set to begin our campaign. We hope to reach the group stages. Anything can happen in football. It’s nothing strange to me,” Atinga said to Nana Darkwa Gyasi on Max TV.
Atinga echoes the word of club director John Kwasi Adu, who, on Max FM’s Sports Pack, assured the Ghanaian champions would defy all odds to reach the group stages.
The first leg would come off at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 19 before Gold Stars head to Algiers for the return leg seven days later.
