Former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper, Razak Abalora has joined Albanian side AF Elbasani from Moldovan champions Sheriff Tiraspol.
Currently, fourth-placed on the Albanian topflight league table, Elbasani was founded on August 2, 2024, and has enjoyed a rapid rise from the lower leagues.
The 28-year-old’s professional career began at the West African Football Academy (WAFA) before joining Kotoko, where he won the 2021-22 Ghana Premier League after a stint with Tanazanian side Azam.
His excellent performances attracted European suitors before settling on a move to Moldova to join Sheriff Tiraspol, where he kept a record 17 clean sheets in 33 appearances in his first season.
With leagues around the globe on break for international matches, Abalora may make his debut on Thursday, September 12, when Elbasani take on the late Raphael Dwamena’s side, FK Egnatia.
