Black Stars player Mohammed Kudus’ return to action for West Ham was marred by a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Leicester City in the Premier League.
Kudus had been serving a six-match ban for a bad tackle on Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven in a matchday eight encounter.
The Ghanaian international returned to a West Ham team that had won just once in their last five matches as they faced Leicester City, who recently appointed Ruud Van Nistelrooy as its manager.
Jamie Vardy, Bilal El Khannouss, and Patson Daka scored all three goals for the home side, while former Dortmund striker Niclas Fullkrug, who replaced Kudus in the 79th-minute, pulled one back for West Ham.
Jordan Ayew was a late substitute for Leicester City, as he came on to replace Facundo Buonanotte in the 90+1 minute.
West Ham will face Lopetegui’s former side Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday, December 9, with Leicester City taking on Brighton the day before.
