Respected senior Ghanaian journalist, Mohammed Alhassan has charged the leaders of the various sporting disciplines in Ghana to be visionary thinkers.
Formerly the Public Relations Officer for Inter Allies FC, Alhassan was tipped, among others to be nominated for the Sports and Recreation Ministerial position, but Kofi Adams was selected for the job.
Alhassan recently outdoored a holistic $100 million for a five-year sports development plan for the improvement of infrastructure, talent, and sustainable governing practices.
Aside from the accolades sports brings to Ghana, it can also generate revenue and provide employment opportunities in its respective disciplines.
“All the international federations have money for their associations. It depends on how you go and apply for it… Apart from that there are sports foundations across the globe that want to invest in sports,” he said on the Sports Pack show on Max FM.
He also advised leaders of the associations of the various sporting disciplines to design programs that would be attractive enough for international federations to fund.
When it comes to infrastructure development, Alhassan urged the incoming Sports and Recreation Minister to pay critical attention to the management of the country’s sporting facilities.
