UEFA has revealed the nominees for the 2024 Ballon d’Or awards, with the ceremony scheduled for Monday, October 28, 2024, in Paris.
Notably, for the first time since 2003, neither Lionel Messi nor Cristiano Ronaldo appears on the Ballon d’Or shortlist. Messi, the eight-time winner, and Ronaldo, a five-time recipient, are both absent this year.
In the men’s category, 17-year-old Lamine Yamal of Barcelona is among the nominees, alongside notable players such as Vinícius Júnior, Jude Bellingham, Erling Haaland, and Kylian Mbappé.
For the women’s award, nominees include Aitana Bonmatí, Alexia Putellas, and Sam Kerr, among others.
This year also introduces new trophies for Men’s and Women’s Coach of the Year, with Pep Guardiola nominated for his success with Manchester City.
