Arsenal close to sealing quarter-final place

Date:

Mikel Arteta’s side became the first team in Champions League history to score seven goals away from home in the knockout stages of the competition as they romped to a 7-1 win over PSV Eindhoven.

Arsenal took control after Jurrien Timber scored Arsenal’s opener in the 18th minute before Ethan Nwaneri doubled Arsenal’s lead just three minutes later.

Mikel Merino added a third following a defensive mix-up, but Noa Lang pulled one back from the penalty spot after Thomas Partey fouled Luuk De Jong.

Substitute Calafiori then combined well with Leandro Trossard to score the Gunners’ fifth, followed by Odegaard’s brilliant second goal after Belgian midfielder Leandro Trossard had bagged the fourth.

The Italian left-back scored his second of the game to round off Arsenal’s memorable win in the Netherlands.
