Seasoned Ghanaian journalist, Dr. Godfred Akoto Boafo, has downplayed the relevance of the Black Stars Management Committee to the on-field success of the team.
Following the humiliating feat of the Black Stars failing to book a spot at the 2025 African Cup of Nations, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) moved to make strategic changes to turn around the fortunes of the team, including naming a new Black Stars Committee.
Members of the committee include Dr. Randy Abbey (Chairman), Stephen Appiah (Vice Chairman), Samuel Aboabire, Moses Armah Parker, and Dr. Richard Nsenkyire.
According to Dr. Akoto Boafo, the responsibility for managing the team falls on a single position. He highlights the conflict of roles between the Black Stars team manager and the management committee of the team.
“Would the change of the management committee change the performance of Otto Addo or the Black Stars?” he questioned on Max FM’s Sports Pack.
He believes the only need for the management committee would be to negotiate bonuses for the team; any other role is irrelevant.
