Nashville SC beat FC Cincinnati to set a new record of (77) points in a regular MLS season on matchday (34) of the Major League Soccer.
Nashville SC capped off a remarkable Major League Soccer regular season campaign with a 2–0 victory over FC Cincinnati on Saturday November 7, setting a new MLS single-season points record of 77 points.
Nashville SC arrived in Cincinnati knowing that victory on the final day of the regular season would further cement their place in the history books and they delivered when it mattered most. Thanks to a second half brace from striker Sam Surridge.
The first half ended goalless with both teams struggling to find the breakthrough. Cincinnati attempted to impose themselves on home soil, but Nashville remained disciplined and organised, limiting the hosts opportunities.
The match came alive after the interval with Nashville gradually taking control. Their persistence paid off in the 61st minute when Surridge broke the deadlock finishing with his right foot after being set up by Andy Nájar.
The goal gave Nashville the advantage and forced Cincinnati to push forward in search of an equaliser. The hosts introduced fresh attacking options, but they struggled to break down Nashville’s defensive structure.
With four minutes remaining in normal time, Surridge struck again to put the result beyond doubt. His second goal of the evening completed his brace and secured a memorable 2–0 away victory for Nashville.
Cincinnati had no response as Nashville comfortably saw out the closing stages to celebrate a historic achievement.
The victory takes Nashville SC to 77 points from 34 regular-season matches, surpassing Inter Miami’s previous MLS record of 74 points set in the 2024 season.
Nashville had already secured their first-ever Supporters’ Shield and Saturday’s result provided the perfect conclusion to a record-breaking campaign.
The club now turns its attention to the MLS Cup Playoffs, carrying the confidence of an outstanding regular season and the advantage of home-field priority.
