Growing The Pride: One Community at a Time

Date:

From Accra to Takoradi, Sekondi, and now Tarkwa, PrideSpins is taking grassroots football across Ghana, celebrating local talent, empowering young people, and bringing communities together through the beautiful game.

Football in Ghana has always been more than a game. It is a source of identity, unity, and hope, bringing people together around a shared passion. From neighborhood pitches to community parks, countless young players nurture dreams of making it big, while local teams and supporters keep the spirit of the game alive.

It is this passion that inspires the PrideSpins Community Soccer Gala Initiative: a growing movement committed to supporting grassroots football, celebrating local talent, and creating memorable experiences for communities across Ghana.

The journey began with efforts to support local teams through initiatives such as the Community Football Jersey Giveaway, which provided teams in communities including Accra Newtown, Alajo and Labadi with playing kits. This was followed by community football galas that gave local players opportunities to compete, showcase their abilities, and represent their neighbourhoods with pride.

From the early editions in Accra to the tournament at Kotobabi Wembley Sports Complex in July 2025, the initiative brought together teams, supporters, and families through competitive football, prizes, entertainment, and community activities.

But PrideSpins’ vision has always extended beyond the pitch. In Teshie, the initiative partnered with Football Impact Africa to combine football with financial literacy and drug-abuse awareness. In Madina, community football was complemented by wellness education and free health screenings. These experiences demonstrated how grassroots sport could become a platform for personal development, healthier choices, and stronger community connections.

The momentum continued into 2026, with the Community Soccer Gala final at TEPS Park bringing together teams from Madina and Teshie. The event celebrated local talent and reinforced the initiative’s ambition to reach more communities beyond Accra.

In August 2026, the PrideSpins football train headed west to Takoradi and Sekondi, bringing the excitement to Efiakuma and surrounding communities. On August 22, eight teams—Effia Kuma Sports XI, BapP9 – Zongo EK, Soccer Wonders – Tanokrom, Top Ridge FC – Top Ridge, SFA – Kwesimintsim, PSV – Mpatado, The Strongest – New Takoradi, and Takoradi Young Stars – Town—were featured in the tournament at Effia Kuma Police Park.

The following day, the action continued at Essikado Park, with four advertised fixtures: Essaman versus Yensuado, Assemensudo versus Essikado, Imperial Quarters versus European Town, and Bakado versus Zongo. Together, the two events celebrated the football culture of the Western Region, bringing neighborhoods together through competition, entertainment and shared pride.

Now, the journey moves to Tarkwa.

On Sunday, November 8, 2026, the PrideSpins Football Showdown arrives at Simpa Astroturf, bringing another community the opportunity to be part of this growing movement. With a live registration tent and freebies planned as part of the experience, Tarkwa is the next destination in PrideSpins’ mission to connect with grassroots football communities and create exciting opportunities for local engagement.

From supporting teams with jerseys to organising football galas, promoting education and wellness, and taking the experience to new locations, PrideSpins continues to demonstrate that community football can mean much more than the final score. It can inspire young people, strengthen local identity and create opportunities for communities to celebrate what they have in common.

As the train arrives in Tarkwa, the message remains clear: football talent exists everywhere, and every community deserves an opportunity to shine.

From Accra to Takoradi, Sekondi and now Tarkwa, PrideSpins is growing the pride: one team, one pitch and one community at a time.

Together We Play. Together We Grow.
