Former Black Stars captain André Dede Ayew has donated an undisclosed amount of money to Ghana’s men’s amputee football team, the Black Challenge, ahead of the 2026 Amputee Football World Cup in Mexico.
Ayew visited the team during a training session at the Ajax Park at the University of Ghana, Legon.
During the visit, the ex-Black Stars captain encouraged the players to give their best and return home with the trophy.
“I’m here to support and give you all the love and power that I can give you and to wish you great luck. I hope that you guys will bring us a medal, but the gold will be better,” he said.
The former Ghana captain said the team’s hard work and success inspired him to offer his support.
He also called on Ghanaians to rally behind the players as they prepare for the tournament.
According to Ayew, the Black Challenge has won several medals and trophies for Ghana. He believes the team deserves more support and recognition.
“They have been winning medals and trophies for the country, so we need to all rally behind them. In anything we’re doing, remember that our national amputee football team is there,” he added.
