One person confirmed dead after being struck by a train near Gate 2 of the EMEF Estate, close to Community 25 in Tema.
The incident happened at about 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, as a diesel multiple unit (DMU) train operated its evening passenger shuttle service from Tema Harbour Station to Afienya.
Sources at the Ghana Railway Authority say the incident has raised fresh concerns about safety along railway corridors, particularly the dangers posed by unauthorised access to railway tracks.
The sources have called attention to the need for intensified public education on railway safety and greater compliance with safety regulations to prevent similar incidents.
The location has reportedly recorded three fatalities, prompting concerns about recurring accidents and the need for urgent interventions to protect pedestrians and other road users near the railway line.
Authorities are yet to provide further details about the deceased or the circumstances that led to the incident.
The latest fatality underscores the importance of keeping railway tracks clear of unauthorised access and strengthening safety measures in communities along railway routes.
