The Ghana Football Association (GFA), through its Communications Director, has affirmed the country will host the 2027 U-20 AFCON.
Henry Asante Twum, the mouthpiece for the GFA, shared it has been the dream of his president, Kurt Okraku, to have Ghana host an international football championship.
In an interview on Max FM’s Sports Pack show, Asante Twum, also popularly referred to as Mr HAT, confirmed plans remain on schedule to host the tournament in March next year.
“We will host the 2027 AFCON in March. Nothing has changed, and we still have what it takes to host the tournament,” he told Nana Darkwa Gyasi.
Ghana faces a race to ensure its venues and supporting infrastructure meet CAF’s requirements as concerns continue to grow.
Accra Sports Stadium remains the only venue understood to be certified for CAF competitions.
