The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has denied claims about its launch of the Colts Football 2026/27 season as a result of pressure from President John Mahama.
On Tuesday, September 15, the Colts Football 2026/27 season will be officially launched at the E.T. Mensah Hall.
Mr Henry Asante-Twum, the Communication Director of the GFA, on Max FM’s Sports Pack Show, denied the allegations.
Days leading up to the return legs of the first round of the preliminary stage of CAF’s men’s inter-club competitions, which consisted of Medeama SC and Nations FC, President Mahama questioned the state of Colts Football.
“I do not know what happened to it, so I want to ask the Football Association: what has happened to the Colts League?” he asked during a session with Medeama at the Jubilee House six days ago.
The GFA’s chief mouthpiece affirmed in response on Max FM that the launch of the Colts Football 2026/27 season “has nothing to do with President Mahama’s comments”.
Mr Asante-Twum further highlighted the GFA under the leadership of its incumbent president, Mr Kurt Okraku’s continuous investment in Colts football with the support of the KGL Foundation.
This, according to the communication director, has been working for six years and counting.
