The famous and glorious Accra Hearts of Oak has kicked start their new Ghana Premier League (GPL) season in a scintillating fashion.
The never-say-die boys handed Berekum Chelsea a four to nothing thrashing at the University of Ghana Stadium on the afternoon of Sunday, September 6, 2026.
This is the first time in longtime that Hearts of Oak has won on the opening day of a league season, scoring twice in each half, and having dream of a title with their performance.
Former Dreams FC striker John Antwi grabbed a debut goal after just seven minutes into the game before adding another, completing a brace on the 40th minute mark.
Hearts’ Ivorian forward Kader Mamoudou headed home his debut goal from a Ransford Mensah cross four minutes to full time.
Ali Mohamed ensured an emphatic statement-making win after scoring on the final minute to play from the penalty spot following a foul on George Paaku.
