The people of Tain witnessed history as their beloved Debibi United picked their first point ever in the Ghana Premier League (GPL) on Sunday.

Debibi United kicked off their season as a newbie in Ghana’s top flight division at home to the famous Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

The Warriors, as they are also known were minutes away from achieving a dream start to the season if not for Hubert Gyau’s 79th minute equalizer.

Isaac Nii Armah, head coach of Debibi, after the match, asserted his team deserved taking away all three points from the visitors.

“We deserved to win the game against Asante Kotoko. We created most of the chances, but unfortunately, we failed to convert them. It’s also good that we scored two goals, but we didn’t defend well enough.”

Dogo Yakubu had given Kotoko a halftime lead, but Richard Owusu’s brace turned the tide in favor of Debibi before Gyau capped of his performance with a leveler for the visitors.
