The Member of Parliament for the Ablekuma North Constituency, Hon. Ewurabena Aubynn, has commissioned a new astroturf at the Methodist University and Wesley Grammar School campus.
The commissioning ceremony, which took place on Thursday, August 27, 2026, drew both management of the university and senior high school in attendance, together with chiefs, clergy, and imams.
The vice chancellor of the university, Prof. William Baah Boateng, expressed his delight at the development of the infrastructure and called for proper maintenance for the benefit of the constituents.
The municipal chief executive of the constituency, Hon. Kalamu Musah Adamu, said the project, abandoned in 2004, was financed by the District Assembly Common Fund approved by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.
He further revealed the total cost of the development of the astro turf to be GHC4.5m. He added that two more such projects will take place at the Kwashieman Cluster of Schools and Samaria School in Odorkor in the coming months.
The MP, Hon. Ewurabena Aubynn, cited that the infrastructure is not just a sporting facility but an investment in the youth, talent, and health and will ultimately provide a better future for the people of Ablekuma North.
The astroturf, equipped with six floodlight stands, two changing rooms, a spacious car park, and a 100-seater spectator stand, will later be developed into one of the ten mini stadia the minister of sports and recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, revealed are in the plans of the president.
