The third and final round of qualifiers for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup kicked off this week, with Ghana drawing 1-1 away with Senegal.
The Nigerian women’s team clinched a thrilling 3-2 victory.
Meanwhile, Zambia moved ahead after a 2-1 win against Ethiopia.
The South African youngsters suffered a 0-2 defeat at home to Kenya.
With these results, Nigeria, Zambia, and Kenya now hold the advantage heading into the decisive second legs.
Ghana and Senegal, however, will head into their rematch on level terms.
The decisive return fixtures are scheduled for July 11 and 12.
Only the winning teams will secure their ticket to the World Cup, set to take place in Morocco.
